The long-awaited update
Jackson's doing great, and we're all thrilled. Now the details:
We had some concerns with him early on, because at his two-week doctor visit on Friday, December 26, Jackson had lost a little weight. The doctor suggested some dietary changes for Christie, and set up another visit for the next week.
On Sunday morning, though, Christie changed his diaper and noticed a pink stain on the front. We called the pediatrician and Dr. Haselton said that this was an early sign of dehydration, and said to start supplementing with formula to get Jackson's fluids up. We got started with Similac immediately and when we took him in on Wednesday, he'd gained three ounces. Dr. Haselton told us to make another appointment for a week later.
When we came back the next Wednesday, Jackson had only gained an ounce or so, and Dr. Haselton said we should switch to formula first. She was very encouraging and said that Jackson continued to look very healthy, except that he wasn't gaining weight. She told us to come back again the following Tuesday.
We took him in again yesterday afternoon, and he'd gained a full pound in the last week. We were both thrilled, and Dr. Haselton was very pleased. Jackson was too; he's even starting to smile already. I told him that a full tummy makes his daddy smile, too.
We have plenty more pictures to put up and I'll try to get them up tonight, so be sure to check back later. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts, prayers and encouragement!

Jackson's Day Out
Jackson made his first trip to Nashville yesterday when he accompanied Christie to her post-partum checkup. Everything went great, and the clinic staff oohed and aahed over him for the entire visit. Photos were taken and will be posted [some] weekend--I promise!
Meanwhile, Jackson's paternal grandfolk are coming up to Smyrna today and will get to see their new grandson for the first time. We're very excited about their visit, and of course there'll be more pictures.
