A long-overdue update
Sorry about the long delay (and lack of new pictures) since the last post. Things have been busy around here!
Jackson's paternal grandparents made it up on the 16th, and were very taken with the little fellow. He took to them very well, and we all had a great visit. This was also their first chance to see our new house, and they liked it a lot. They stayed until Saturday afternoon, then reluctantly (for all of us) headed back home.
Christie and I had planned to go to Stephenville, Texas for her brother Sam's birthday party on the 30th (his birthday was on the 19th, but they delayed the party so Christie could come), provided Christie and Jackson had their docs' permission to travel. Her folks would be returning from a business trip the previous Saturday via Austin International, so I told Christie we could fly her and Jackson down to meet them in Austin, then they could spend a week in Stephenville and ride back with me on Monday. She was thrilled with that idea, and so (after much further drama) that's what we did.
The trip was very historic for Jackson. Besides being his first trip to Texas and and his first airplane flight, it also included his first:
- visit to a restaurant (Luby's Cafeteria, Austin)
- church service (Cross Timbers Church of Christ, Stephenville),
- birthday party (Uncle Sam's 30th),
- night away from home (Nana and Papa Mangrum's house),
- road trip (over 815 miles from Stephenville to Smyrna), and
- church service with his parents (Madison County Church of Christ, Jackson, TN)
Jackson developed a bit of a sniffle the last couple of days in Texas, and his pediatrician changed his two-month visit to today so she could check him out. She said we were doing everything for him that could be done (saline drops, humidifier and Tylenol), and he'd be fine. Jackson cried when she gave him his two-month shots, but she said he did great. She also said she was glad that Christie was staying home with him; apparently there's some nasty stuff going around in daycare, and he'd be exposed to all of it if she weren't home with him.
Oh, and he's now up to 10 pounds, and out to 23 inches! The doctor said his development was right on target.
I'll try to get current pictures up soon. Thanks for visiting, and come again!
